In paintings, this style is marked by its frivolous, gentle and idyllic representation of life as well as its use of pastel colours, which Queen Marie-Antoinette liked very much. Jean-François Watteau, François Boucher and Jean-Honoré Fragonard are the undisputed masters of this Rococo movement and its chivalrous scenes where cherubs and other symbols of love can be found.
