18th century cherubs…

The Rococo style, born in France in 1715, remained very popular until 1780. In paintings, this style is marked by its frivolous, gentle and idyllic representation of life as well as its use of pastel colours, which Queen Marie-Antoinette liked very much. Jean-François Watteau, François Boucher and Jean-Honoré Fragonard are the undisputed masters of this Rococo movement and its chivalrous scenes where cherubs and other symbols of love can be found. Cherubs painting give you the time and remind you that even if the word Rococo has now a negative meaning in France, this style gave birth to some of the world best known paintings.
